ASSESSMENT OF, FOR AND AS LEARNING
ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING
The teacher uses the evidence or results from a learned lesson to assess his targets. Here, the levels of achievement are measured according to the learning goals. Summative tests and final exams are perfect examples of it.
I would say that assessment of learning is the one that contributes least to the foundation of knowledge. Nevertheless, it provides results that can be used to improve next teaching-learning sessions.
ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING
Here the teachers provide feedback to the students. It is a formative process of dual teaching-learning. Both teacher and student learn from each other. The latter gets the information needed to improve on his learning and to achieve his goals, and the former gets information about his teaching and how well the students are doing. Formative and diagelessnostic assessments are part of this.
ASSESSMENT AS LEARNING
Teacher only provides feedback to the students, and they monitor their learning themselves. It means, that they are such an active part of the process. Self assessment is not the only example of this, peer assessment also counts.
I love assessment AS learning since it encourage students to set their own goals and also to beat their own barriers.
