ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT

ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT

So you think that you can only assess your students by doing it in the TRADITIONAL WAY?
Please, give me the opportunity to prove you how wrong you are!

There are other ways to do it. Of course it will require longer periods of time and even more work, but results are amazing.

Alternative assessment if my favorite way of assessment, because it gives the students the opportunity to show how much they know about a topic, at  the same time that they link it with real life. So, they can solve problems, promote ideas, projects, etc.

This has been one of my favorite topics of this course, so I want to apply it more in my classroom. Here are some of my takeaways from it that I want to share with you:

*Stay away from the thought that it is impossible to do it. It is duable.

*Make a plan and monitor it until the end.

*Keep a record of the activity your students are developing.

*Don´t be afraid of failure.

*Elaborate a well done rubric, checklist or another instrument to collect the data you will need to give a grade to your students.

I want to share some examples of alternative assessment that you can apply to your classroom:

*Projects

*Videos

*Blogs

*Journals

*Presentations

*Portffolios
